7 wonders Of Nature In Your Own Backyard!
When seeking new travel destinations to seek out the beauty of nature, you need not travel far if you live in North America! Listed in no particular order, here they are: Sequoia National park, Garden of The Gods. Natural bridge National monument, Yellowstone National Park, Niagara Falls, Yosemite Valley and Mammoth Cave. Of course there are many others including the Grand Canyon for example, but these are the ones that I have chosen to cover in this hub.
The Sequoia National Park is a California park that consists of granite mountains and deep canyons, but it's most largest attraction is it's over 35 groves of Sequoia trees. Most notable is a Sequoia named the General Sherman Tree, it stands 273 feet high and measures over 37 feet in diameter and at over 3,000 years old , it one of the largest and oldest living things on the planet!

See results without votingGarden Of The Gods located near Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a beautiful collection of unusually shaped and multicolored rocks that have been shaped in sandstone formations. There are names such as, Kissing camels and Balanced Rock. There is even a naturally made amphitheater known as Grey Rock.

See results without votingNatural Bridge National Monument in Utah is comprised of three natural bridges called Sipapu (220 ft. high), Kachina (210 ft. high) and Owachomo (106 ft. high). They have spans of between 180-268 feet long. All are natural sandstone bridges that were carved by two streams.

See results without votingYellowstone National Park located in Wyoming,Montana and Idaho and is truly a national treasure. Known for it's Elk, Buffalo, Bears and recent addition wolves. It's Main natural attraction is a series of gesyers the most famous being Old faithful located in the Wyoming section of the park, because it spouts regularly about every 30-120 minutes. Every eruption yields about 10,000 gallons of water and shoots up about 90- 150 feet in the air!

See results without votingYosemite Valley is Located in the Yosemite National Park in California. It is known for flat rock walls and it's very lofty peaks and domes. The Yosemite Falls are the highest in North America with a drop of over 2,420 feet. It's most famous terrain feature is El Capitan a granite formation that rises about 3,600 feet from the foot of the valley.

While the Falls on both sides do not exceed 176 feet in height, the Niagara Falls are extremely wide and move between 6-4 million cubic feet of water over the crest line every minute. This makes it the most powerful waterfall in North America. For this reason it has become both a mecca for honeymooner's and a major source for hydro electric power.

I feel blessed to have visited 5 of the 7, have not seen Sequoia National Park or Yosemite. My sister has been to Yosemite several times and I love hearing her talk about it.
Canada is usually a substantial country, second largest inside the world, and, as such, has a wealth of natural wonders. The best seven wonders of Canada.
